Weather: Stunt run!

While not terribly cold, I did cut the run a bit short today.

A few walking breaks in this run made it a bit colder than I like. I cut out some of the kilometers planned because of it, so instead of heading up to Bristol Monument, I stayed on the usual route, though I didn’t include Niven Lake Trail.

My feet warmed up just fine anyway, so I really could have done more, but after coming out of the trail, and encountering traffic, I just wasn’t feeling it.

No worries, plenty of time to increase volume. For now, the training focus is consistency, mental toughness and podcasts 🙂

Training Tip:  The first 2 or 3 km are a damned lie.

Take it easy for the first 2 or 3 kilometers, to get a good idea about how your body is feeling. Often, feeling sluggish at the beginning of a run will shake off after 10 or 20 minutes.

A subtler problem is that if you have been off running for a bit, you can feel ‘tapered’ and give yourself a MUCH harder workout than you intended.

Love your warmup! I use a geographical marker, but a few good songs will also do as a measure.
